I use editing when I am taking individual songs off a longer dvd or old vhs tape. I just start where I want (usually when a song starts, or at the beginning of a relevant introduction) and then stopping the recording when the applause dies down. I am not as precise as many. We did get a few videos done at a live show with a professional videographer (our recording engineer, adding to his skill set). He used a main camera and three iPhones on tripods around the room. He later edited the best camera shots and different angles depending on the song. You can edit in snapshots of other things if you want to get fancy, but I haven't figured out those bells and whistles.
