Durham University, which I mentioned above, is offering potential students money to defer their offers a year. The amounts are not clear, but probably far less than they would have to pay out if they were sued, so I can see it being financially attractive to them. As to whether it is worth it to each student to lose a year is something only they can decide. But it is likely to be students from poorer backgrounds who do, in the main.
