It's fine to start threads that don't interest too many people; but when one does start a thread, the thread title and the first message should be understood by 80 percent of the people who read threads at Mudcat. Most of us are quite literate - If we can't understand at least your thread title and first message, then you're wasting our time. Same goes for you, Donuel, Prince of Misinformation.
The title and first message of a thread should inform, not confound. Unfortunately, the most prolific Internet posters are often the least literate.
It's a simple matter of telling people clearly what you want to talk about. If you're too stupid to do that, then you shouldn't be starting threads. Step back and let more literate people take the lead. I find it's best if I don't start threads unless I really have something to say. I think you'll find that I start very few threads.
