He married quite late in life, and had one daughter,because he did not have a large family, and did not have too many financial burdens He was able to buy the row of cottages he lived in, one of the cottages he used to play music in and use as a workshop/retreator what moght now be called a man shed, he also grew his own tobacco and his own vegetables etc.
