Word? WordPerfect? The debate continues. I've been hearing variations on it since 1983. I've used almost all versions of both for years. I was once a passionate advocate of WordPerfect. I now am content to use whatever is on the PC I am currently sitting at.Like the current computers they run on, both programs are incredible overkill. They have become swiss army knife programs that try to be all things to all writers. Most users take advantage of less than 10% of their features (a wildly generous estimate).
Both have become almost infinitely customizable. You can make them do anything you want with any set of keystrokes or menu choices, if you want to take the time to customize the program.
I have come to use Winword almost exclusively when given a choice because, for better or worse, it is a Microsoft world.
