Back in the day there was honey or cane sugar in sweets.
These can be tested with a mass spectrometer at NIH and show how much fission by products and radioactive decay has taken place in the organic sugars and honey. It turns out that even years after the atmospheric test ban there were still traces of atomic misdeeds.
There were a few candies that were not dated. There were other pre atomic age candies and drinks that you would not believe what was revealed. Moxie was amazing.
