Rather than solving the Stanley Alpine thing, it seems to have gotten a bit more complicated. On one hand we have the idea that Sonny Osborne used that as one of his aliases. On the other hand George's son, if he is indeed that, claims that the name was a childhood in-joke that George used when he was compiling one of his country music albums. Here is a third possibility. I have a copy of Billboard from November 16th 1963. On page 16 there is an article about George and the formation of Mount Vernon music. The article lists some of the personnel who will be involved. It includes Steve Alpine, who will be head of A&R (artists and repertoire). Is he real? Is he any relation to Stanley? Is he another imaginary concoction of George's?
