Ted (or Tudor as I knew him) was my best friend during our first year at Keele University (1970-71). We both had a room in the same residence block, and made an almost instant friendship after meeting in the block kitchen. We did not appear to have that much in common = I knew nothing about folk music and was a South London American Soul fan. but we spent many amusing hours (sometimes days) together. In a way he was responsible for me getting together with Patsy, who is still my wife, because his girlfriend at the time was one of a group of women (including Patsy) needing a trainer for their venture into a 7 a-side rugby tournament. He passed on the request to me and the rest is (50 years) history. Tudor went on to form Aleph Null, a superior folk trio, with Andy Gotts and Patsy (Anderson at the time) Frost. Tudor cut short his time at Keele, and time and geography distanced us. I did see him again (inevitably at the funeral of another dear friend Jonathan Hayward), but despite the length of time that has passed I still think of him as a great friend, and an important person in my life. I am saddened at his loss, and send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
