You know, I once heard it suggested that men who are offended by fat women are scared of female power, because it reminds them of when they were small and helplessly in the power of their mothers. I don't know if that is true or not. But when the Great Goddess as the Amazingly Fat Woman was worshipped, women had a lot more power in society as well.

He does have a point, though, and the facts won't go away just because they hurt some people's feelings. (And those feelings won't go away even though they are irrational.) It is ironic how often people pig out at buffets, as if taking more than enough will somehow make the experience worth more. And it is very ironic how often it's the people with a weight problem already who really overdo it. I really don't know how people can EAT five heaping plates from a buffet, but I've seen it.

People who eat that much have a problem, whether they're fat or thin. But it's more noticeable in a fat person.
