The upcoming year is one of those when I have more fears than hopes. I am glad beyond words that the Orange One will be out but dealing with it will be an herculean and thankless task. That is bad enough in itself.

However, there is a new element at work. If we get through the next few years without widespread bloodshed, we will have had extraordinarily good luck.
