john betjeman was a product and a representive of the upper class. he was an establishment poet who glorified aspects of the british empire he was uncritical of the class sytem or the empire. in a subtle way betjeman glorifies the english upperclass and their tennis matches and miss jopan hunter dunn, all jolly hockey sticks jolly good chaps etc.
