In the 70s a competition for "World's Worst Poet" was won by (a Paisley man, IIRC) Walter McCorrisken. His work owes something to McGonagall, but is distinctively a style of his own. I am sure plenty of his oeuvre will be available online.
I remember reading somewhere that John Betjeman was not allowed to visit the home of a schoolmate during the holidays because his family were "in trade". Said schoolmate (Hugh Gaitskell) later became leader of the Labour Party!
