I read just now on the BBC news website that the earliest an article of impeachment could be put to the Senate would be on the 19th. The feeling is still that getting a Senate supermajority to convict him is almost inconceivable. It isn't clear either whether convicting him once he's left office on the 20th would be constitutionally sound...
