The way I understand it is that the Senate, after an impeachment in the House, can vote to ban the impeached from seeking public office via a super majority vote without a trial or a conviction. I would be very much in favor of that though there's not much chance of it happening but trump's going to have legal problems in a number of venues that will probably keep him occupied until the grave, might even cause him to miss a few rounds of golf or an assignation with a porn star.
