The reference to Trevelyan's corn is possibly a reference to the Chief Secretary to Ireland at that time. Trevelyan followed Forster (SP?) after Parnell disposed of him. I believe Trevlyan took office around 1881, 1882.My chronological understanding of Irish history is quite muddled. I believe this was a period when the landlords were evecting tennants left and right and the land wars began. I'm also assuming the whole situation was exacerbated by famine.
Am I on the right track? Anybody with a clearer perspective?
