still mulling Leenia's complaint
posting lyrics doesn't always mean we want to sing/want people to sing a song. Sometimes we post for intellectual interest and for comparison with other lyrics. The similarities to The Banks of the Ohio have already been noted. That is a song which people sing a lot. It has a catchy tune, but a quite gruesome verse - the narrator stabs the woman while she is in his arms and pleading for her life. Can it be that some singers and listeners actually get a thrill from these lines?
