Subject: RE: Hilton Valentine died today
The Animals were one of my earliest favorite Bands when I got into music aged 12 in the early 70s..
By then, they were considered old fashioned.
But their music was available on pocket money friendly cheap LPs [MFP ?] at Woolworths..

Mastering "House of the rising sun" was one of me and my mates greatest achievements
when he got a guitar for us both to learn on in evenings after school..

In the late 70's I discovered an Animals LP in an American 'cut out' specialists imports shop.
I'd never known this one ever existed. [one good thing to say about the21st Cent. internet..]
Apparently a USA only release;
like other UK bands that had been tied up in legal problems during the 1960s

Animalism [USA only]

At a time when Wilko Johnson was our favourite inspirational guitarist,
Hilton's superb playing on that LP was right up my street..

Such a shame it was so obscure, legally withheld from most British listeners...
