Thread Name: Info: Charlie Bate (Cornish singer)(1919-1977)
Subject: Charlie Bate (Cornish singer)
Very interested to know if people are aware of releases by the Padstow singer Charlie Bate (1919-1977) -
I'm very taken with his voice, having encountered a couple of tracks on Topic's The Folk Songs Of Britain Volume 9: Songs of Ceremony (1971);
Sadly, it seems that there are no single, 'official' album releases, with a handful of tracks scattered across compilations and concert recordings.
There's some more info here:

...And here:

There are also two archived concerts online - 1973 recordings from pubs and parties:

...And also 1976, for Padstow Old Cornwall Society:

Does anyone know much about Charlie? Perhaps you even met him or saw him perform?
