But Corvus Corax was formed in 1989 in (East) Germany. They are known for playing neo-Medieval music using authentic instruments. Their name is the Latin name for the common raven. The band often uses bagpipes as the solo instrument; their live performances attract attention with the bizarre look of the musicians being reminiscent of ancient Greek myths: half-naked, dressed in unusual clothes, wearing primitive tribal decorations, often tattooed.

They have gone through many changes, but have been together for 30 years.

They have performed all around the world, playing to many crowds and still make music today.
They draw inspiration from Carmina Burana, with many songs in Latin, some in Old French/Ottican, Irish to name a few

The original members are Castus Rabensang, Meister Selbfried who were researchers in the music
