I once happened across a black limo parked in the darkness of a French supermarket car park. It moved forward into the light, and Sylvie Vartan emerged, said a few words, and cut the ceremonial ribbon to declare the store open. Then back into the car, and back into the darkness. I tend to remember moments like that........
