Thread Name: Lyr Req: Songs about mice
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs about mice
The song referred to by tiggerdooley on 23 Mar 01 is A Windmill In Old Amsterdam by Ronnie Hilton, although I only knew it by Freddie and the Dreamers. They omitted Verse 4 in their version.
INTRO E A | E A
VERSE 1
A (E)mouse lived in a (A)windmill in (D)old Amster(G)dam
A (C)windmill with a (Fmaj7)mouse in and (Bm7)he wasn't (E)grousin'
(E)He sang every (A)morning, "How (D)lucky I (G)am,
(C)Living in a (Fmaj7)windmill in (Bm7)old Amster(E7)dam!"
CHORUS
(E)I saw a Amouse!, (A7)Where?
(E)There on the stair!
(Bm7)Where on the stair?
(A7)Right (E)there!
A (E7)little (E)mouse with (A)clogs (A7)on
(E)Well I declare!
(E7)Going (Bm7)clip-clippety-(C)clop on the (E)stair
(E7)Oh (E)yeah
VERSE 2
This mouse he got lonesome, he took him a wife
A windmill with mice in, it's hardly surprisin'
She sang every morning, "How lucky I am,
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"
CHORUS
I saw a mouse!, Where?
There on the stair!
Where on the stair?
Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on
Well I declare!
Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair
Oh yeah
(KEY CHANGE !!!!!!)
VERSE 3
(Fmaj7)First they had (Bm7)triplets and (E)then they had (A)quins
A (D)windmill with (G)quins in, and (C)triplets and (Fmaj7)twins in
They (Fmaj7)sang every (Bm7)morning, "How (E)lucky we (A)are
(D)Living in a (G)windmill in (C)Amsterdam, (Fmaj7)ya!"
CHORUS
(Fmaj7)I saw a (Bm7)mouse!, Where?
(Fmaj7)There on the stair!
(C)Where on the stair?
(Bm7)Right (Fmaj7)there!
A (Fmaj7)little mouse with (Bm7)clogs on
(Fmaj7)Well I declare!
Going (C)clip-clippety-(D)clop on the (Fmaj7)stair
(Fmaj7)Oh yeah
VERSE 4
The daughters got married and so did the sons
The windmill had christ'nins when no one was list'nin'
They all sang in chorus, "How lucky we are
Living in a windmill in Amsterdam Yah!"
CHORUS
I saw a mouse!, Where?
There on the stair!
Where on the stair?
Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on
Well I declare!
Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair

OUTRO (play slower, emphasise the chord changes)
A Fmouse lived in a windmill, so snug and so nice
There's nobody there now but a whole lot of mice
.. Ohhh Yeahhhh
