Why? The political reasons are well known - they aren't as controlling as Facebook - but there is also a technical one, they support a much larger variety of file types, as things you can post directly rather than just link to. Including many kinds of sound files. Makes for a much better music setup than trying to get things into Soundcloud and then making links from FB or Mudcat.
