To deny D.C. residents all the same rights that other U.S. citizens enjoy on the basis of an antiquated notion formulated more than 220 years ago when the D.C. area was a swamp runs contrary to the democratic principles this country was established on. Those Founders got a lot of things right but they also gave us the 2nd amendment,though I imagine they assumed that we would have the will, the intelligence and the humanity to adjust laws to suit the times.
