My mother's version (she was born in 1914) went something like this:

Pinganinganoonaa inkaatee
With an inkaatankaa (and here my memory fails me)
The Chinaman with a monkey's nose.

It took three robbers (or maybe robins) to carry him off
Behind the backs the boys did shout
Here he comes and there he goes,
The Chinaman with a monkey's nose.
