When I were a little lad in my Catholic primary school, every May we would sing, lustily, Bring Flowers Of The Rarest, in honour of the mother of Jesus. The chorus went:

"O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today
Queen of the angels and Queen of the May..."

It was written by Mary Walsh in Victorian times.
