I went to Music and Art HS and was introduced to ASDG by a school chum in 1946. I eventually became a member of the Exhibition group and my partners varied but I often danced with Bobby Williams. In addition to the dances we learned shape note hymns. One of our last or Forman SS was in 1951 when we were recruited through the Library of Ckbgress to participate in the Catalan Poet Laureate festival then held in NYC at NYU. We learned the Sardana as well as a Catalan court quadrille. We also performed Lancers and a southern running set. The hist sponskrs provided us with custom made shoes and dress for the performance at NYU. I left after my marriage to Marc Nerenstone, also a former member of ASDG. In fact we met at ASDG though my first partner at an open dance was George Roth who managed to keep me dancing though I had never done it before.
