"Sporting Life" was a staple of any Hamish Imlach set, Hamish being a very accomplished blues picker. I wouldn't be surprised if he learned it direct from Brownie McGhee. For the benefit of younger readers, Hamish was a top man from the sixties right through to his premature demise. Many of us learned loads from him.
