for me, the day has a sad nostalgia. The parents long dead will not be organizing a picnic in the park, with brats and burgers on the grill and home-made potato salad.

The whole family will not be going to the fireworks tonight. Fireworks, heck. The next generations doesn't even answer my e-mails, forget going somewhere with me.

Donuel, thanks for the link. That piccolo solo is one of my favorite things. Did you know that ragtime and Sousa marches share the technique of starting on the tonic and leaping to the fourth in the next section? I think they share other features too, but I forget what they are.
