I got job lots of stuff like that free on prescription when I had blistering cellulitis last year. Dunno whether the surgical spirit was such a great idea... Maybe just a soapy clean-up then let the blood system do its thing...? I grazed my shin getting into my car (!) over a month ago, scraping the top of the skin off, nothing deep, less than a inch across, and it still hasn't healed completely. I tend to leave cuts and grazes open unless Mrs Steve whinges about my gore getting on the bedsheets...
