Thread Name: What are jubal hounds?
Subject: RE: What are jubal hounds?
The Hurwyn kennel affix is used by a someone who has pointers and setters and the Lokmadi affix by a dachshund breeder and exhibitor. Are Richard Bridges' names such as Hurwyn Calypso at Lokmadi real or fictional? Kennel affixes are registered with a Kennel Club or Canine Association in one's own country so they may duplicate a name used in some other country. Also you can register a dog with a made-up affix that isn't official recognized as long as it isn't too similar to an already registered affix. The Jubal Afghans are based in the U.K. and the westie, Sir McDuff of Jubal, competed in an obedience trial in the U.S.; my guess is that there is not a human connection between the West Highland White Terrier and the Afghan Hounds. It would be interesting if it turned out that the proprietor of Jubal afghans had been inspired by the foxhunting song to chose the affix == if the chosen breed were Afghan hounds, that would seem more likely.

yes, I amuse myself with dog names. I also saw mention of Jubal Pekingese dogs online also, apparently based in Australia (but the website doesn't look very reliable to me)
