Subject: Getting closer! Worthing folk thing
Hi everyone!!

Just to say - we even managed to argue together a "press release"!

Worthing gains a new music venue when the Acoustic/Roots/Folk/Blues club "What the Dickens!" opens its door to the public on April 6 (7.30 for 8pm start) at the Charles Dickens Public House, Heene Road, Worthing. The club is the brainchild of HAJ! an acappella group who came together at Christmas to perform seasonal songs for the Christmas session at Richard Durrant's Famous Airport Club at Shoreham. Since then they have continued to expand their repertoire to include both contemporary and traditional songs. Now they have thrown caution to the winds and are starting a much needed, new and alternative, open-stage/mic-forum club in Worthing for local artistes, singers and musicians to show what they can do!

The intention is for the club to evolve along its own lines, develop its own personality and see where the music takes it: Folk, Blues and beyond, with everything in between is the policy from the most traditional to the most contemporary. Come along and participate in an open-ended musical journey.

"There are venues to the left of us, venues to the right," quipped one of the band, "this'll make us the Missing Link!"

They are especially delighted that the dazzling virtuoso, classical guitarist Richard Durrant (sometime described as John Sessions meets John Williams) is lending his support, formally opening the club and guesting on the first night April 6 at the Charles Dickens Public House, Heene Road Worthing, 7.30 for 8pm start.

Space will be limited so arriving early is advised. Local musicians wanting to pre-book a slot are advised to call 01903 522787, email hjcook@carnegie.u-net.com
