A specialist travel agency, "Every Thursday evening, [TanSuo Cultural Travel] offers a free seminar on a certain topic related to Chinese culture.....

"During the first half of our seminar, we'll be discussing the 3,000-year-long history of music in China and the way in which instruments were categorised according to Chinese tradition. This classification system is known as the Bayin (??) or 'Eight Sounds' and is based on the main material used to make the instruments, rather than the way in which the instrument is played.

"Throughout the rest of the seminar, we'll take a closer look at an instrument from each category and listen to clips of them being played. Alongside learning about several lesser-known Chinese instruments, you'll also have the opportunity to engage in a lively discussion at the end of our seminar and share your love of music."
