I learned a lot about how readers work when I had my surgery follow-up appointment with the optometrist. My walking around glasses have a blank on top (just glass) and a 2.0+ correction on the bifocal. I have 1.5+ readers to use on the computer and I have some 2.0+ readers I bought at Costco that are on the kitchen table and next to the bed for reading books or tablets. I can read with the walking-around glasses, but the field of vision in the readers is better for those specific tasks. All of this illustrates that getting older is something you have to work at.

The test of the $5 convection oven went off flawlessly. I baked a small tray of chicken breast tenders and enjoyed a couple with dinner. (I also fried several okra, made rice in the rice cooker and used the rice-cooker steamer pan to prepare a large bunch of broccoli for me and for the dogs in their dinners.) This us an unusual amount of cooking for August, but it has also been an overcast rainy day.
