Thunderstorms in the forecast again today with wretchedly high humidity. I didn't walk the dogs this morning, it was going to be a clammy slog.

Another case of pint canning jars has been retrieved from the pantry and will run through the dishwasher for the next round of processing okra pickles. Activity in other parts of the garden is at a standstill right now; tomatoes won't set well again until it cools, and the chard may grow to a usable size. Not sure what will happen with the couple of squash I've planted. Lots of basil. I need to plant cilantro this fall after weather cools.

I've shifted a mat nearer the back door and the lab has an easier time standing to eat (his back end kind of slides around on the tile otherwise, his back legs sliding out from under him.) Old guy is arthritic and needs a stable base, so I'll pick up another mat to put down in the feeding area.

I walked back to the compost pile this morning and on my way pulled a dozen or more privet sprouts coming up in the yard. It's an invasive weed now and I'm trying to eradicate it, but it's an uphill battle.
