This was an Event. It was an attack. It was a declaration of war by a collection of religious extremists. It changed how people in the world do things. It was random, and unpredictable, and we couldn't have done anything to prevent it, knowing what we knew. IMO.
We can prevent disease, and starvation, and gun violence, and other causes of death. We don't, but we could.
