Thread Name: ADD: Spirit of the Sea (Malcolm Gibbons)
Subject: ADD: Spirit of the Sea (Malcolm Gibbons)
I wrote this song in 2007. Derek Gifford recorded it, but I could email you an MP3 of my recording.
SPIRIT OF THE SEA (Malcolm Gibbons)
CHORUS: Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor Rich man, poor man, bound or free, They all may ride upon my shoulders, I am the spirit of the sea.
Since the dawn of time and travelling, trading silks and spices fine, Precious stones and human cargoes, Gold and silver, sweet red wine. I have heard the songs of merchants, heard their greedy plans and schemes, Kept them safe in my sparkling waters, held them close and fired their dreams. CHORUS
Men have used me through the ages, wrecks of ships and lost, dead souls Rest among my chill, grey forests and Neptune's bell forever tolls. They have tried to steal my treasures, pirates now from modern times, Always taking, never giving, sorrows left by mindless crimes. CHORUS
Brave men risk their lives for others, tiny boats on mighty waves, Villages of sons and brothers put to sea, men's lives to save. But I ask a dreadful price and pale, sad faces on the quay Search for signs on dark horizons, Look for lights across the sea. CHORUS
