My step-daughter says one of the proudest moments of her life was decding to take a [fail] on one class. She was dealing with her third round of mono during freshman year, and had a prof that would not let her make up a speech because her doctor's excuse did not backdate the illness to when it must surely have been active (a day before the doctor visit). She decided she was too sick the day of the final to give a rat's patoot and rfag herself out just to earn a D for the semester. So instead of the D, she took the F, and plans to take the class again with another prof later on. Because she really liked the subject, and wanted to do well in it and learn lots of cool stuff. This young lady, a recovering perfectionist I suppose, has just learned how to not be so tough on yourself that you screw yourself into the ground.
We are prouder of her for doing and learning this than for all the A's she's ever gotten.
Hallelujah!
