If you have friends who are crafty the materials could be reused. I'm currently (almost) working on a wallhanging using a friend's ties, I just need to finish off the quilt made from the t-shirts he designed in the 80s, that will be Friday. Then I'll start cutting up 30 beautiful silk ties. Last year I made a similar wallhanging with another friend's ties.
