I did it. I sang the Blackbird's Lament at today's singaround and got many smiles and cheerful applause. I didn't sing the choruses, because I felt it was long enough without them. I changed the order of the verses slightly, moving the verse about the gods to #2, which I felt told a more logical story.

A song like this is a good one to sing when one's singing voice is not up to par. Comic songs don't demand a beautiful tone.
