As of this posting the Folklore Society of Greater Washington(D.C.) getaway week-end is going strong. Since I was able to attend only one day (Saturday) as a "Day-tripper" this report will undoubtably be premature... However, what I saw and heard and blissfully enjoyed on Saturday was some supreme talent. It makes one wonder: what separates these performers from superstars? It certainly is not the talent...the folks that I had the priveledge to see and hear could fill any large theater... At the risk of offending some whose names will not get listed at this time I will mention here some of the folks who have me believing in God again, as their musical gift had to come from heaven above. Mike Agranoff, from New Jersey; Saul Broudy, from PA; Bob Clayton, from MD; Sacred Harp talents Tim Slattery and Miriam Kilmer from VA. All did workshops and mini-concerts and also performed at the concert on Saturday night. More names need to go on record here. Someone else can pick up now and report on Sunday's events. Congratulations to the FSGW on an excellent effort.
