I got the vbox on Monday, srs. I had a couple of problems with it and mythtv. I couldn’t get its over the air program guide (EIT) working and I’m not sure that is supported (yet?). I didn’t have much joy with the alternative listings grabber solution for myth either. As well as that I was a bit puzzled by some channels vbox not working via mythtv.

Rather that fight any more with it, I’ve changed things a bit at least for now. I used to have both the DVB S/S2 satellite card and the DVB T/T2 HDHome terrestrial run under the control of mythtv and allocate resources (both these devices have more than one tuner) for live tv and recording from there. That gave mythtv the full range of channels on both devices to choose from for recording and the same range for viewing (most recently with kodi). Mythtv now just does the HDHomerun and recordings and live tv is made available more directly (although still using kodi) with the vbox.

In practice, this shouldn’t make much difference. While I like to make the full range of terrestrial and the Astro 28.2E satellites (which carry more than just Freesat) free to view channels available, just about everything wanted here is broadcast both on Freeview and on Freesat.
