Feeling a bit peeved today as the self-employed electrician who works for the electrical contractor of the services company of my housing trust failed to turn up for a appointment to repair an overhead light socket which I reported nearly 3 weeks ago. I got a call from the contractor on Monday asking if the electrician could arrive yesterday, to which I said I couldn't be home, and confirmed an appointment for today. Yesterday, while I was out I got a phone call from the electrician to say that he was 'in the area' and wanted to do the repair that day, to whom I repeated that I was not at home, and that I had an appointment the following day. Today - waited at home. 4pm - no electrician. So I rang the service who made an excuse that the contractors tried to contact me on Monday - but couldn't get an answer and all they could do is send an email to the contractor to ask them to make another appointment with me. As far as that is concerned, I feel that it is unsatisfactory, and that the contractor should contact the electrician and order him to carry the work (probably only a few minutes job) - I have no problem if they are sent out to do the job after they get back home from work, and fiddle with electrical fittings in the dark. I would also have had no problem if the electrician, the contractor, the service company and/or my housing trust were to contact me if the electrician couldn't make it, apologise and make another appointment on the spot.
Thats got that off my chest, can get back to eating dinner.
