The tune is part of "Sheep Crook and Black Dog," recorded by Steeleye Span in 1972. That's right, 'Catters, almost FIFTY years ago.

They got it from Ewan MacColl, who with Peggy Seeger recorded it in 1963 from Caroline Hughes, an English Traveler.

I wouldn't be surprised if I've heard "Gloucestershire Wassail" sung to this tune, maybe FIFTY years ago by the Watersons.

If not, go ahead and do it yourself. The words and music make a good match.
