Thread Name: Lyr Req: Wayne Raney songs
Subject: Lyr Add: WE NEED A LOT MORE OF JESUS (Wayne Raney)
A few words are different from the version in the Digital Tradition, so I decided I ought to post this version here; this is also my transcription from Spotify:

WE NEED A LOT MORE OF JESUS (AND A LOT LESS ROCK ‘N ROLL)
As recorded by Wayne Raney and the Raney Family on “16 Radio Gospel Favorites (Original Gusto Recordings)” (1976)

1. You can read it in the mornin' paper, hear it on the radio,
How crime is takin’ our nation; this world is about to go.
We need a good old case of salvation to get the love of God in our souls.
We need a whole lot more of Jesus and a lot less of rock ‘n’ roll.

2. We need more old-time camp meetin's and a lot more prayers of faith,
Prayers that will move a mountain, save souls from a burning lake.
We need a good old case of salvation to get the love of God in our souls,
We need a whole lot more of Jesus and a lot less of rock ‘n’ roll.

3. We need more old-fashioned preachers pourin' out their hearts in prayer,
And when you're in their presence, you’ll know that the Lord is there.
We need a nation-wide revival to get the love of God in our souls.
We need a whole lot more of Jesus and a lot less of rock ‘n’ roll.

The Billboard (magazine), Sep 7, 1959, page 31, column 2, announced the release of Starday 116: WE NEED A LOT MORE OF JESUS AND A LOT LESS ROCK AND ROLL, performed by Wayne Raney and the Raney Family.

It was later covered by The Sunshine Boys (May 9, 1960), The Greenbriar Boys (May 5, 1962), and Duckbutter (Jun 26, 1971).

I think the version in the DT came from the Greenbriar Boys.
