Geoff Lawes described William Joyce, aka Lord Haw Haw, as an Englishman. I thought William Joyce was Irish. Actually, he was born in the U.S. to an Irish father and an Anglo-Irish (English born) mother. The family returned to Ireland, where Joyce was brought up. Joyce lived in England from his teens and identified as English but that was an adopted persona. I read that he became a German citizen in 1940. He was never a British citizen so technically could not be guilty of treason to the United Kingdom. Joyce did carry a British passport when he went to Germany.
