Ignoring the green one risks forgetting that the same letter can sometimes crop up twice or even three times in a word.

It's a good idea to start out with the more common letters, so you can tick them off one way or another.

I found that the link Stanron gave to wordlegame.org, wile very handy in that it enables you to play as often as you like - and also in various other languages, which I couldn't begin to do, has one annoying defect. There is no undo button, so once you've put in a letter you can't get rid of it and start again, you've got to keep on to the end with that word, and blown one of your goes on a word you hadn't intended to try.
