The pull of the past
meets the push of the future
at our present seaside cliffs.
Death awaits a fall and the future
demands a climb with no guarantees.
Religions like Islam and fascist regiemes preach
against a future with equality and calls for peace.
There is a war for history and against science and
there are revolutions for a future that has fewer inequalities
Calls for civil war, rebellion against vaccines, and faith based
education and elimination of facts are evidence for turning back the clock.
There is an arrogance for the past and an arrogance for future advances
while we in the present must chose sides in this perpetual conflict
