I see that Ballads and Songs Southern Michigan is back in print. The original Gardner and Chickering book was published in 1939, and I have a Folklore Associates reprint published in 1959. The current edition was published by the University of Michigan Press.
I don't see anything in the book about the location of the recordings, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.
