ON LEAVING SCHOOL:
“No more school work, no more books,
no more teachers’ dirty looks.
No more Maths, and no more French.
no more sitting on a hard school bench.
No more beetles in my tea,
making googley eyes at me.
No more spiders in my bath,
trying hard to make me laugh.
No more lines and no more cane,
no more sports days in the rain.
No more things to bring us sorrow,
‘cos we won’t be here tomorrow.”
