Hi, Dick - I think that often, parodies are the highest form of compliment. There's no doubt that "Hard Times Come Again No More" was the most perfect song ever composed by Stephen C. Foster (although there are many others that are close). I don't think the parodies damage the original in any way, because the original is just so good. But the parodies can really be funny....
